ABOUT
Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise and body conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, mostly as a method of injury recovery for dancers. Some of the principles that guide the Pilates method include concentration on each movement, use of the abdomen and low back muscles, flowing, precise movement patterns and controlled breathing. Routines can be performed on specially designed apparatuses, including a bed-like structure called a reformer, or more simply on a mat. The benefits are both therapeutic and preventive. The practice may help you recover from an existing injury or manage a chronic musculoskeletal issue. It may also help you establish a healthy baseline, so that when those injuries or issues arise, you’re able to bounce back faster.
Gyrotonic®
Gyrotonic® is a unique method of whole-body movement that flows in circular and spiraling patterns to promote strength, balance, flexibility, and efficiency of movement. This type of exercise relies on your natural mobility, moving through the full range of motion in your joints without compressing or restricting movement.
Gyrotonic® Equipment
5 pieces of specialized equipment help you generate thousands of possible movements. They’re predominantly made of wood, reflecting the flowing, spiraling motions of the method and our bodies. The first and most recognized piece of equipment is the pulley tower. Its two parts consist of a bench with rotating handles at one end, and a weighted cable system on a tower. Movement capacity and body proportion are taken into account when adjusting the equipment so that everyone benefits from moving through their full range of motion.
Gyrokinesis®
The Gyrokinesis® Method addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method that coordinates movement, breath and mental focus. It is practiced on a mat and chair without equipment. Without the feedback and guidance of equipment, participants in a Gyrokinesis® class are more dependent on their own proprioception to explore movement sequences.

Chiara
I was born and raised in Sicily. However, I've traveled a lot for study and pleasure. I've played many sports, especially rhythmic gymnastics, and I've always enjoyed working hard to achieve a goal. I've studied movement my entire life.
I teach rhythmic gymnastics and am a federal FGI coach. In 2008, I fell in love with Pilates, becoming a Covatech® certified trainer in 2012. The awareness of the body given by this discipline is an integral part of a healthy and active lifestyle. Between 2014 and 2017, I approached Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® and realized they were what was missing from my training.
Pilates, Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® are complementary to each other and give me a more complete vision of the body and its movement in space. This allows me to choose the most suitable path and exercises for my clients.
As a trainer, I take great joy in seeing my clients transform their bodies, gain confidence, improve their overall health, and lead pain-free lives.
My academic qualifications include a degree in political science and international relations, and a degree in European studies from the University of Catania in 2004.
My certifications include:
- Certified Gyrotonic level 1 and Gyrokinesis® teacher
- Covatech® Pilates Teacher Training Program
I have 20 years of experience as a federal rhythmic gymnastics coach.
